![]() There are not many main roads so lots of traffic on the same road. On 2 days we turned right so we could turn at a car park further up to go back down the road. Take care if driving when leaving the car park as it is a very sharp left turn to go into town. We tended to eat proper lunches and snacked in the evening and plenty supermarkets nearby to buy stuff. We travelled to a beach further along the coast and though a bit more sandy, shoes would have helped. Beach next to the hotel was very stoney so take shoes if you wish to swim in the sea. ![]() Car was useful when travelling to other parts of the island, which we did. Bastia is an extremely busy port and is always full of traffic. ![]() We hired a car from the airport and on the first morning drove into town but there was absolutely nowhere to park so we returned and parked at the hotel and walked! Quite doable but in the heat not much fun on the walk back. We did not use the gym facilities but it looked adequate for anyone who wants a little exercise. As we don't really eat that much for breakfast, we bought croissants, juice, coffee, milk etc and as we had a fridge in our room breakfasted on our balcony right next to the sea. We had breakfast on the first morning but at 16 euros a head it is quite expensive but the view more than made up for this. After this we ate in town as there are so many restaurants about. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening and it was very good but quite expensive. The swimming pool was superb and due to the time of year we were often the only ones in it. Room was spotless and we had fresh towels and water every day. The weather was amazing which always helps! Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall a very nice stay but very expensive but availability at the time was very low in Bastia.… All the staff were helpful and friendly and spoke reasonable English compared to my dismal French. There’s a pizza restaurant just a 10 minute walk from the hotel but not a lot else. The outside areas are well kept and the separate restaurant near the pool is a great place to relax with access to the stony beach below. However it’s certainly not worth €19 and if I had a car I’d have driven somewhere else for it. Though the breakfast itself wasn’t anything special (but the coffee is excellent) the setting is amazing if you opt to sit on the balcony. House keeping did a good job cleaning but often didn’t replace the complimentary bottled water. The blackout shutters are perfect and didn’t let a single ray of light in - important for an east facing room (all rooms are). Of course there’s air conditioning but I often woke up during the night too hot. The bathroom was modern and clean with a bath/shower, separate toilet. There’s a mini bar, coffee making facility, power points by the bedside, a safe and ample storage. The room itself was spacious enough with accompanying private balcony. I had a room on the third floor with a fantastic east facing sea view so experienced amazing undisturbed sun rises. It’s a 4 star hotel with the associated high prices. Great location in terms of privacy and closeness to the albeit rocky beach and about a 20min walk to the centre. Taxi from the airport is between €50 - €75 depending on time of day. I stayed here 6 nights whilst working in Bastia.
